Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni was sworn in for his 5th term of office on Thursday in Kampala amid tension and a day-long social media blackout. Museveni’s government cut all social media ahead of the inauguration ceremonies while police were seen out in force in downtown Kampala after signs of unrest earlier in the week. Opposition leader Kizza Besigye has vowed to continue his campaign of defiance, calling himself the, “people’s president.” (VOA News)
