Ex-Prime Minister Faustin Archange Touadera has taken a, ‘surprising lead’ in early voting results from the Central African Republic’s presidential elections held last Wednesday. 30 candidates are running for president of CAR and there is expected to be a run-off between the top 2 vote getters later this month (BBC News).

Despite the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) most recent petition, Ghana’s electoral commission will not compile a new voter list before November’s general election. The NPP says it has evidence the commission’s current voter list is ‘bloated’  (VOA News).

ICYMI Kenya’s Garissa University College is reopen. The university is welcoming back faculty and staff today with students scheduled to return next Monday, 9 months after an attack by al-Shabab killed nearly 150 people and forced it to close (BBC News).
