Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the government will strengthen security at IDP camps after more than 50 people were killed by 2 female suicide bombers at a camp in north-eastern Nigeria. The camp at Dikwa in Borno State provides shelter to about 50,000 people who have been relocated from their homes due to the insurgent group’s violent attacks in the region (BBC News).

US officials are warning of a growing political crisis in Democratic Republic of Congo over the possibility President Joseph Kabila will seek a 3rd term in office. Special Envoy to Africa’s Great Lakes Region,Tom Perriello said if Kabila were to seek a 3rd term in the November elections it could, ‘undermine political and economic gains‘ made in the DRC over the past decade (VOA News).

ICYMI Nigeria’s parliament will not be voting on the 2016 federal budget this month. Disagreements over discrepancies in what were to be the final submissions from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government (MDAs) mean the country’s appropriation committee will be doing “a proper clean-up of the budget” before re-submitting (The Nerve Africa).
