Risks and rewards of bagged water in West Africa

Large trucks and buses roll through the only paved road connecting Dakar to Bamako, transporting passengers and merchandise to villages along the way. Every 50 kilometers or so, those trucks and buses stop – drawing women and children out from behind their red earth covered tables and roadside stands carrying bags of water in a bowl on their heads. In most of these towns, these bags of water are the only way to keep people safely hydrated since potable water is not common.

Kumasi Fashion Week is a springboard for next generation designers

After 4 years of running Fashion Week on the campus of the KNUST, curators from Ayo A Ghana felt it was time to pay homage to the Ashanti monarchy and its rich, indigenous aesthetics, old and new, on a bigger scale. Together with ICommerce Events, they brought to the city of Kumasi bold prints, clean cuts, flirty forms and street couture for the first ever edition of Kumasi Fashion Week.

It’s here! Our #Rize2016 watch event

Our list of the ‘Rizers to watch’ in 2016 highlights the individuals and organizations making a positive impact in their communities through creative design thinking, original storytelling, accelerating new ideas, building better businesses, and being committed to social entrepreneurship.

By amplifying their accomplishments, our goal is to help this next generation of influencers connect with other changemakers across the continent, and throughout the diaspora, to bring innovative solutions to today’s challenges.

Join us on Friday, March 18th, at Impact Hub Accra and on Twitter by following #Rize2016 for our community launch event celebrating this year’s Rizers.
